How It Works
Our four-step professional process is carried out by hand by Rob himself, using specialist equipment to restore every piece to its original condition.
Step 1
To achieve a flawless finish, Rob often has to make the ring look worse before it gets better.
Using specialist buff sticks — which come in a variety of grades and strengths — both the inside and outside of the ring are worked on carefully. This allows Rob to gradually remove scratches and imperfections without compromising the structure of the piece.
Step 2
Once the surface is refined, the ring moves to the polishing machine.
Using a polishing mop combined with specialist compounds — chosen depending on the metal — Rob carefully polishes both the inside and outside of the ring, bringing back that beautiful mirror-like finish.
Step 3
After polishing, the ring is thoroughly cleaned in two stages:
Ultrasonic cleaning — removes any remaining polishing compounds and debris from intricate settings and hard-to-reach areas.
Steam cleaning — a high-pressure finish that leaves the piece completely spotless and gleaming.
Step 4
If your ring is white gold, the final step is rhodium plating.
This restores the bright white, high-shine finish that white gold is known for — giving it that fresh, just-like-new appearance that makes white gold so desirable.
Interesting Fact
Rhodium is one of the rarest and most valuable precious metals in the world, often significantly more expensive than gold or platinum. It belongs to the platinum family of metals, is highly reflective — giving jewellery that crisp white shine — and is extremely durable and resistant to tarnish.
Its rarity comes from the fact that rhodium is not mined on its own. It is a by-product of platinum and nickel mining, making supply very limited and its value exceptionally high.

Between Appointments
Between professional cleans, there is plenty you can do at home to keep your jewellery looking its best. We recommend a gentle soak in warm water with a few drops of washing-up liquid, a soft toothbrush for settings, and a lint-free cloth to dry.
