Robert Bicknell Fine Jewellery specialises in creating handmade bespoke jewellery pieces. Since we first opened our workshop in Chislehurst in 2007, we’ve focused on unique diamond jewellery, gemstone jewellery, engagement rings, wedding bands and anniversary gifts for customers all over the world.
Our founder and professional goldsmith, Robert Bicknell creates every piece from scratch using responsibly sourced precious metals, diamonds and gemstones. Whether it’s a dream engagement ring or a special occasion gift, we can bring your ideas to life using traditional techniques and reliable British craftsmanship.
The Bespoke Jewellery Process
Step One: Initial Consultation
An initial consultation helps us to understand exactly what you would like us to create. We will discuss and exchange ideas for your bespoke jewellery, decide on a style direction and agree a price range.
Step Two: Choosing Diamond and Gemstones
Next, we will go away and select a beautiful array of diamonds and coloured gemstones to show you at a second appointment. During this meeting, we will work on some drawings of your jewellery piece and present different variations to begin narrowing down the perfect design for you.
Step Three: Choose Your Design
We will now ask you to pick the piece you really love. At this stage in the bespoke jewellery process it is important that you are happy with the design and confident that it is the perfect piece for you before we get started in the workshop.
Step Four: Handcrafting Your Jewellery
We will begin handcrafting your piece of commissioned jewellery from scratch in our professional Chislehurst-based jewellery workshop. First, we will shape the precious metal to match your design, followed by diamond and precious gemstone mounting.
Step Five: The Finishing Touches
This is your opportunity to add a final flourish to your bespoke jewellery. At this stage in the bespoke process you can choose to add a hand-engraved message, date or phrase to your jewellery. We offer professional hand-engraving on-site to add a lovely sentimental touch to your handmade designs.
Step Six: See Your Finished Jewellery
Every piece is carefully placed into one of our special branded boxes, nestled within our luxurious ribbon tied bags - all ready and waiting to be opened! Whether it is for a loved one, family member, friend or just something special for yourself, you can be proud in the knowledge that your piece is unique and British made.
